If you are one of those people who work 24/7, exhausting all your body’s energy and dragging your body to move everyday without getting the right kind of exercise, food, and sleep, then you must probably be experiencing body pains, especially on the thigh and the calf part. You might ignore the pain, thinking that is just a simple condition that does not need medical attention. However, you should know that there are some simple cases of unilateral calf pain that can actually lead to serious problems. Therefore, you need to have diagnostic testing.
How can diagnostic tests help you? You just have to undergo some tests and depend on the experts to figure out what you are really experiencing.
What problems can you possibly expect to occur if you are not able to undergo testing? You can expect BBaker’s cyst, deep vein thrombosis, among other complications. You do not want to have these conditions, right? That is why undergoing diagnostic testing before everything’s too late is necessary. Testing may include different medical procedures but all of these, such as muscle biopsy, are important to determine your condition.
If you are not familiar with MRI, it is high time for you to realize that it can help you understand what you are going through. It is the commonly used apparatus to diagnose unilateral calf pain.
You can also undergo CT scan. Why not try ultrasound also to have a visual representation of what’s inside your muscles? However, you should understand that you have to undergo a number of tests to further validate all the results. You have to repeat the tests a number of times to ensure that the results in all of the procedures suggest only one condition. In that way, you would know if the calf pain you are experiencing is prone to more serious and complicated conditions.
What will you do if, for example, your diagnostic results say that your calf pain is not just an ordinary pain and that you are already experiencing some complications on your cardiovascular system, what would you do? You would surely be advised by your doctor to undergo a surgery. You would also be advised to take an anti-biotic for the continuous treatment of your condition. In the extreme cases, there are forms of unilateral calf pain that lead to sarcoma development. This would need some sessions of chemotherapy and oncology. You do not have to worry about the procedures because there are some hospitals that provide cheaper prices. On the other hand, you must not sacrifice quality just to find cheaper offers. You have to ensure that the doctor you will be asking help from specializes in the field so you would get the best services and treatment.
See, you must not just ignore any pain that you experience.
You wouldn’t know, the more you disregard of what you thought are simple body pains, the more you put yourself into danger. So, now that you know the risks, you should be responsible in asking medical help if you know you are experiencing regular and too much pain. Nothing would be lost. You will just prevent yourself from having more serious problems.

I started walking about 3 weeks ago. Within a few minutes of walking my calf muscle started to burn. This occurs every time I start walking. It does not stop hurting until I stop walking.
Be sure to stretch and warm up your calf muscles before walking. Also, ensure that your shoes are giving you proper cushion and support. If possible, it’s best to walk on softer ground and avoid concrete sidewalks.
Please can you advise.
I am waking up with pain (not cramps) in my calf (both).
It is not from injury or strain.
I have had serious back pain with sciatica for two months and was wondering if the calf pain was associated.
Thank you.
This sounds like rest pain, which can be caused by arterial insufficiency. Ischemia can cause tissue damage, you should see your physician as soon as possible.
